Burton M. "Skip" Sack
Skip started in the restaurant industry in 1951 while a freshman in high school. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1961 from the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at Cornell University and, in that same year, joined the Howard Johnson Company as an advertising assistant. During his tenure with Howard Johnson Company, he spent 16 years in a direct operations role. He developed the Ground Round restaurant chain, taking it from one restaurant to 65 units in 7 years and, for 4 years, served as Vice-President/Specialty Restaurants which included both the Ground Round restaurants and Red Coach Grills.
In 1983, Skip left Howard Johnson's and, through a leveraged buy-out, acquired its Red Coach Grill Division, a chain of 15 dinner house restaurants. In 1984 he acquired the franchise rights for Applebee's in the New England area and, in 1986, opened the first Applebee's in New England in Newton, MA. In 1994 he merged his company with Applebee's International, Inc. At the time of the merger, Skip's company, Pub Ventures of New England, Inc. operated 14 restaurants in four New England states, with two additional units under construction. Upon completion of the merger, he became Executive Vice-President of Applebee's International. He retired as an officer of the Company at the end of the 1997 fiscal year, but continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors and as a member of the Corporate Governance Committee.
In addition to Applebee's International, Inc., Skip is a member of the Board
of Directors of Tibersoft, Source Food Technology and Tempra
Technology. He has also served on the Board of Directors for
Acapulco Restaurants, Western Sizzlin' Steak Houses, Bay Street
Restaurants, the Broadcasting Executives Club of New England
and the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. Skip was past
president of the Cornell Society of Hotelmen and past president
of the New England Chapter of the National Association of
Corporate Real Estate Executives (NACORE.) He is past chairman
of the National Restaurant Association and has been a member
of the Board for the last 10 years.
Jeanne M. Sullivan
Jeanne is the co-chair and founder of StarVest Partners L.P. a $150 million private equity venture capital firm in New York City, established to invest in enterprise software, business services and applied technology companies. Her business career includes 30 years in operational and investing roles for information technologies businesses including 14 years in the venture capital business. She also serves on the Board of Directors for several of the fund's technology portfolio companies. Prior to the venture business, Jeanne was with AT&T and was the Product Director for a Bell Laboratories internal venture business unit. She is part of the founding team for the New York New Media Association's Angel Investor Program, a highly successful seed stage investing program started in 1997. She is a frequent guest lecturer on the subject of technology investing and building early stage companies.
Kevin J. Dougherty
Kevin is a Managing Director of Venture Capital Fund of New England. After eight years as a commercial banker at Bankers Trust Company and The First National Bank of Boston, he began his venture capital career in 1981, joining Massachusetts Capital Resource Company as a Vice President, where he was involved in leveraged buy-outs and mezzanine capital investments, as well as investing in early stage companies, primarily in electronic technologies. He has similar experience at 3i Capital Corporation in 1985-86. Kevin joined the Venture Capital Fund of New England in April 1986. He currently serves as a member of the board of the VCFNE portfolio companies Tibersoft Corporation, ComBrio, Inc. and Occupational Health + Rehabilitation Inc. Kevin received a BA in history from Williams College.
Christopher W. Martin – Founder
Mr. Martin founded Tibersoft in 1996 and continues to lead the company in supplying foodservice
supply chain solutions.
To Tibersoft he brings 19 years of software sales and marketing
experience at Access Technology
(acquired by CompuServe) and Organizational
Dynamics where he helped form the TQM software division. In
1992 Mr. Martin started the South Natick Group - a software
development company providing executive information systems.
Marquee clients included CVS, Hershey Foods, Gateway 2000,
Hewlett Packard, and John Hancock.
Mr. Martin’s success with SNG brought him into contact
with the foodservice industry. Mr. Martin is a regular speaker and writer on many topics
associated with supply chain execution.
